With six beaches and coves near the village, you’re spoilt for choice when deciding where to while away your days. Agia Triada is one of the most popular and you’ll certainly see why when you check out the crystal-clear water. For a quieter spot, head to hidden Lagrotta Bay.
Pass through olive groves and cypress trees to find Paleokastritsa Monastery. Overlooking the village, the Byzantine-style building dates back to the 13th century. Once inside, you’ll be amazed at the intricate sculptures and colourful paintings. You’ll also find a small museum and olive oil shop - it’s certainly worth the steep, uphill walk!
A 30-minute drive across the island will bring you to the capital, Corfu Town, where you can experience a thriving mix of cafés and restaurants and sample traditional Greek cuisine. Craving some culture? Wander the UNESCO-listed cobblestone streets of the Old Town, with its pastel-coloured Venetian buildings and unmissable historic sites.
Corfu
The Byzantine Angelokastro Castle, or Castle of Angels, stands on the island’s highest peak 305 metres above sea level. The clear views for miles around from up here helped defend the island against Ottoman attack. It's a bit of a climb, but well worth it for the stunning views and amazing sunsets.

Barbati is a relaxed beach popular with couples and families in a sheltered bay, a 10-minute walk down from the road. It has sparkling, clear, blue waters and is good for swimming and water sports but bring some water shoes to cross the pebbles. There are plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas and nearby places to eat and drink.

At lots of restaurants by the beach, you can taste local delicacies while feeling the sand between your toes and the sea in sight. Try fresh fish options such as whitebait or sardines cooked in sofrito, a spiced sauce typical of the region. Many of the bars are family-run and have their own twists on popular recipes.
