A little culture here, a little nightlife there – elegant Budapest ticks all the boxes. Split by the Danube River, it's a tale of two cities. On the UNESCO-stamped west side, amble through the tree-lined boulevards and cobbled streets of Buda and baroque buildings spring into view. Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church and Buda Castle will make you swoon. But that's just one part of this cosmopolitan city. After dark, over in the east, edgy Pest is the place to be. What are you in the mood for? Take your pick from quirky ruin pubs and underground clubs to rooftop terraces and cool cocktail bars. Hangovers can be cured at the grand, centuries-old bathhouses peppered throughout the Hungarian capital – there are lots to choose from!
The Hungarian capital is teeming with tinkling market stalls and majestic architecture, so you’ve really got it all at your fingertips during a Budapest Christmas market break. Enjoy a cup of mulled wine,...
Soak up the twin pleasures of architecture and music at the Hungarian State Opera. Commissioned by Archduke Franz Joseph and opened in 1884, this grand and imposing opera house offers world-class acoustics at...
Bask in Budapest's ancient beauty from St Stephen's Basilica. This architectural triumph offers spectacular views from the dome, reached by a 364-stair climb (or a lift, if you prefer). Don't miss the reliquary...

We stayed at the Boscolo Hotel, having reviewed it online and most people seemed to love it. We were made very welcome by reception staff (who were really helpful) and we had a lovely large room, with deep bath etc and we enjoyed the welcome and variety at breakfast, in the beautiful American Cafe surroundings. Our main disappointment was that in the day (and this may have been just because it was a busy pre Christmas Friday) your only dining option in the hotel (apart from room service) seems to be the American Cafe. Upon entering the cafe from the hotel, we saw that there was a large queue right out the door and down the street a bit. This, because it's described as the most beautiful cafe in the world and it is indeed beautiful. It's not really clear, but you can apparently go to the front of the queue as residents of the hotel. This feels a little uncomfortable, so you stand with the waiting people, but effectively jump the queue. There is an upstairs small area reserved for residents, but we had real trouble there getting either a table or a drink and when we did find a table, the waiter told us he had promised it to someone else, though did agree we could have it after we said that it did not seem very easy to get a drink or a snack in the place as residents. There is a small and very nice bar in the hotel, but it does not open until 6 in the evening. Having said that, there are some interesting bars and restaurants near to the hotel, so if you don't mind heading out after checking in, that's fine. We just wanted to relax at the hotel. The hotel is close to the Holocaust museum and an interesting part of town. Having stayed previously close to the Chain Bridge though, if going back, I would choose to stay nearer the bridge again.
The New York Palace Boscolo is an absolutely beautiful and amazing hotel & restaurant! Definitely well worth splashing out. As soon as you enter the hotel you know you will be well and truly looked after. The staff go above and beyond. Thank you!
Stayed here for 4 nights B+B, excellent accommodation, attentive staff and plenty variety of food at breakfast. Would highly recommend the hotel, the architecture inside and out is quite stunning. The metro is just around the corner giving easy access to the whole city.
We went to Budapest for our 15th anniversary celebration. It was a top of the class hotel. We booked a superior room but got upgraded to a Junior suites for free. The staff were so helpful and answered every question and gave pointers to having a great time. We spent 3 amazing days. I will go back there in a heartbeat. We had no complaints it lived up to our expectation and beyond.....and the breakfast was more than we could ever ask for!!!
This hotel is beautiful and really does have the wow factor! We were just in a classic double room and it was really lovely and a great size! Pillows can come to order from the pillow menu/. Breakfast is amazing, sparkling wine served at the buffet everyday and there is an omelette chef. All coffee comes to order from the cafe so you can have anything you like. It is a beautiful building and we really felt special. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Budapest
