  • February 2018: Malaga Carnival. If you’ve ever shied away from fancy dress, now’s the time to change your thinking – get your glad rags on, dance to live bands and swoon over fireworks.
  • February 2018: Alicante Carnival. The city comes alive with costumes, parades and endless dancing roughly the same time that pancakes are flipped on Shrove Tuesday. Popular streets and plazas fill with festivities.
  • 25 March – 1 April 2018: Semana Santa, Malaga. The holy week takes place just before Easter Sunday and really captures the reality of the holiday through procession down the main streets.
  • 23 April 2018: La Diada de Sant Jordi, Barcelona. 'Lovers’ Day' commemorates the death of Catalonia’s patron saint. La Rambla transforms into a huge market selling books and flowers, as it’s local tradition for men and women to exchange these as gifts.
  • April 2018: Semana Santa, Palma City. The Holy Week is widely celebrated in every Spanish city, but the traditional celebrations are well showcased in Palma. It ties in with Easter, so enjoy the feast!
  • 11 – 13 May 2018: Spanish Grand Prix, Barcelona. Join thousands of fans for sun, tapas and roaring engines. Explore the incredible Circuit Catalunya before getting set for one of the calendar’s most exciting races.
  • 12 – 20 May 2018: Temps de Flors, Girona. Girona sees its streets in full bloom for the annual flower show. From traditional displays to artistic installations, expect a kaleidoscope of colours covering virtually every building.
  • 19 – 23 June 2018: Palma Superyacht Cup. The longest running regatta of its kind in Europe, this glitzy four-day event sees the affluent yachts race on an international stage.
  • 20 June 18: Hogueras de San Juan, Alicante. Flock to the castle for firework displays and a whole lot of cheer as summer kicks off. Eat, drink and be merry at this annual tradition.
  • July 2018: Barcelona Summer Festival. Known as ‘the Grec’, this Greek-style amphitheatre will have you in for a treat. It’s one for a super mix of artists, so get ready for an international fiesta of musical fun.
  • 16 – 25 July: Alicante Jazz Festival. Around various bars and venues in Alicante, the sound of smooth jazz drifts into the streets as a whole list of acclaimed artists command the room.
  • 31 December: Nochevieja, Alicante. You can’t miss celebrating the New Year. But here, as the clock strikes, you’ve got to eat a grape on every chime. Let the champagne flow!
