Radisson Blu Beke Budapest

The hotel foyer is smart, clean and bright. My room was dated and smelt very musty. Luckily I was on the 5th floor and it was warm enough for me to have the window open almost 24 hours a day to reduce the smell. There was not much I could do about the bathroom smell other than have the door constantly opened. Breakfast was very disappointing and uninspiring. I usually look forward to fresh, crusty bread and a selection of fresh fruit. Both of these were disappointing. I went half board as was unsure of restaurants in the immediate location and was travelling alone so though this was a sensible option. The half board menu was extremely limited and by my third night I could not face it and had my evening meal externa to the hotel and locally. The quality of the evening meals at the Radisson was terrible and it was bought to you on a conveyor belt system where you were given less than a minute between the starter and the main meal. I was overcharged 75 HUF for my small bottle of coke on the first night, which I accept is not much but still unacceptable. Finally and probably the worst thing about my experience in the Radisson was that as a solo traveller I was banned from eating with others in the main restaurant on the first floor. I was confined to the cold, soulless dining area near the toilets on the ground floor each night rather than at least being able to see and possibly mix with other diners upstairs. The location of the Radisson was excellent and I will be returning to Budapest next year and made note of other quality hotels in the vicinity.

Very old fashioned establishment in need of updating. The swimming pool is very small. Breakfast was OK for me but my partner thought the cooked offerings where limited, hence he only ate twice. Rooms where very hot, see details below.....

We chose this hotel because it's close to the main train station, so it was just a short walk to metro and tram stops. The rooms were fine and the staff were extremely helpful. The breakfasts were some of the best we've had, lots of choice, though strangely, difficult to find the breakfast cereals - they must not go in for those much in Hungary.

Plenty to see and do in a 3 day break. Used the ten ticket metro/bus options. Hotel just out of centre but only a couple of blocks from two different metro line stations. Prices in general good value so prices in hotel not extortionate.
