Read more about VeniceThe hotel is well placed and very good value for money considering that it lies on the Grand Canal and includes breakfast. The décor in the bedroom was beautiful and romantic and we had a balcony which was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was just right, pastries and a few savouries. If you wanted something a bit more special you could order it for an extra charge. The only negative points would be that the bathroom is a bit tired and the rooftop terrace bar is expensive - although worth having a special drink there. We did eat on the rooftop terrace but I would not recommend this. The food was poor, small portions and VERY expensive. We took the complimentary boat to Mirano and I would highly recommend this. We got the boat taxi to ourselves which would have cost a small fortune if we had hired it. We had a lovely tour around one of the glass factories although the Salesman lost his sparkle when he realised we weren't going to spend a large amount on their glass items. You have to find your own way home if you don't buy anything expensive but this is not difficult gave us the opportunity to walk around the island whilst the next waterbus was due. We had a fabulous meal on the island. I would definitely stay here again!
From the images on line the hotel looked liked a 4 star but in reality it was in need of a an upgrade especially in the corridors leading up to the rooms. The rooms were very clean and the location was ideal as it was close to the bus station. Staff were excellent at reception and in the breakfast room .
Very good hotel. Good location. Buy 3 day waterbus pass to access canals as often as you need to. Hotel staff very helpful. Booked us tickets for Vivaldi concert with no commission. Breakfast had good choice and very efficient. Room clean. Didn't pay for canal view so window overlooking brick wall was not a surprise. The surprise having booked a double room was the 2 single beds made up as single beds then pushed together. Not great for a romantic weekend.
We returned to Venice and The Carlton on the Grand Canal for a second time but this time I had recommended it for a fiend's special birthday. We were not disappointed. The standard and cleanliness of the accommodation and choice of food was excellent. We would recommend a visit or two to the bar on the roof terrace to chill out and take in the views over the Grand Canal. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Would also recommend buying a 2 day vaporetta ticket to visit the islands and travel up and down the Grand Canal. Well worth it.

Please note: if you book a transfer for Venice City this will be by water taxi. The water taxi will take you directly to your hotel if it has a private pier depending on tides. For those hotels without a private pier or during times of low tides, the water taxi will take you to the nearest available dock and you will have a short walk to your hotel. The transfer will take approximately 35-45 minutes per way. Upon arrival a representative will be waiting for you and will take you to the airport dock to get the water taxi. For the return transfer, please ask at the hotel reception for the pick-up time at least 24-hours prior to your departure flight. If taking a private transfer, there is a distance of 950m from the boat dock to the check in area, much of which is assisted by a moving walkway.

The basic flight fare (including all taxes and non-optional charges), one piece of check-in baggage, accommodation and coach transfers if stated form the ‘FREE’ element of the price. All other ancillary charges on the flight or during the holiday, such as extra legroom and in-flight meals, room upgrades, and optional meal arrangements, and for villas, pool heating, shall be chargeable. One Free Child Place is available when there are at least 2 passengers paying the full price. There can only be one Free Child Place per room, or per villa, on the booking. With the exception of villa products, multiple Free Child Places can be booked as long as there are at least 2 passengers paying the full price per child place, each Free Child Place is assigned into a different room and there is availability of Free Child Places. Where a party consists of one adult and two children, one child will be charged the full price applicable to their age and the other child will receive the Free Child Place.
The child age where a Free Child Place would be applicable is displayed on the accommodation description page of the brochure and on our website. The child age on the date of return must not exceed the specified age to be applicable to a Free Child Place.
The full deposit must be paid for the Free Child Place and the deposit will be deducted from the final holiday invoice. This will be displayed at time of booking. If you cancel your holiday there will be a £60 charge payable in respect of the child, in addition to any charges set out in clause 5 of our terms and conditions.
