The Lowdown on Hostels

What is a Hostel?

Looking for a social stay where you can meet new, like-minded people? Say hello to our hostel collection!

These budget-friendly bases are perfect for solo travellers, couples and groups, and usually offer dormitory-style rooms with bunk beds, where multiple guests sleep in the same room with a shared bathroom. Prefer your own space? Many hostels offer private rooms too, along with private bathrooms.

Common areas and shared kitchen facilities generally come as standard, so hostels are ideal if you’re after that community feel. Some even offer organised activities and tours, for those who love getting out and about.

Although hostels may offer padlocks, towels and toiletries to buy or loan, we recommend bringing these items with you just in case they are not available.

Bunking up in a shared dorm!

If you are wanting to book multiple beds in a shared dorm, you will need to search for individual rooms for each adult. For example, to book two beds in a shared dorm, please search for two adults in two rooms.

About Venice Mestre

Venice Mestre is on the mainland approximately 9km from Venice City. Located close to the airport means less time getting to and from your hotel and more time exploring! It has a main town square the Piazza Ferretto, which is pedestrianised with a number of cafes and restaurants where you can while away an afternoon or enjoy an evening meal. The square is surrounded by interesting and historic buildings including the eighteenth century Chiesa di San Lorenzo, the town's most important church. Mestre is perfect for those looking to do something a bit different from the usual St Mark's Square, visit the M9 Museum and get to grips with the most important centuries in the history of humanity. It's also easy to get to beautiful Venice City, simply hop on a train which takes around 20 minutes, or take the bus or tram which takes around 15 mins.

        Discover Venice

Venice has a dream-like quality that makes it the most magical of all Italy’s cities. And locals say the best way to experience it is to get lost. Forget the map and head down side streets to find a quaint trattoria where you can dine on cicchetti with the Venetians. Of course, St. Mark’s Square with its terracotta clock tower, Basilica and Doge’s Palace is a bucket-list must. While you’re there, treat yourself to bow-tied waiter service and a creamy cappuccino at Caffè Florian. Arty types can swing by the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and foodies can get their fill at the Rialto Market, but no city break to Venice is complete without a fizzy peach Bellini at iconic Harry’s Bar.
