If you’re a bit of a foodie, then you’ll be in your element here. Giant tagines filled with succulent meats and cous cous top most restaurant menus, but there are rich harira soups and flaky bastilla pies that are also must-tries. Not forgetting to wash it all down with a glass of sweet mint tea. Cheers – or besseha as they say in Morocco!
Year-round sunshine
As it’s so close to the Sahara Desert, Marrakech basks in sunshine and balmy weather all year round. In summer, expect temperatures up in the 30s, which is perfect if you’re a keen sunbather. In winter, between November and February, it’s still warm but there can be the odd rain shower with the city being in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
