Domus Sessoriana

The Domus Sessoriana Hotel has been developed in part of a Monastery. It is attached to a magnificent church. The hotel is historic, very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. it is located south of the main Termini Rail station and is close to bus, tram and metro stops. If you like walking, you can walk Rome from here, otherwise hop on local transport. The rooms are fine and clean. Breakfast is typical continental with unlimited tea, coffee, juices, cereal, pastries, bread, cheese and ham... All served on the top floor conservatory with great views. There are local restaurants and cafes nearby..We are a mature couple and loved our 6 night stay.

We never tried the breakfast but it was lovely to sit on the roof terrace at night, staff were lovely and the place was clean. However beds were maybe slightly too hard for us personally and the wifi didn’t reach our room nor the roof terrace. Facilities were okay nothing to write home about but it was cheap and cheerful does the job if your planning on spending very little time there. A couple of really cute cafes a 2 min walk away for quick breakfasts

Brilliant location but poor facilities. Basic items in the room didn’t work like the hair dryer, shower head and toilet seat. Beds were basic and hard.

Hotel was booked as a present for significant family birthdays, the guests who stayed were extremely disappointed. They said the building outside is beautiful but inside, although the room was clean, it was worst room ever stayed in. There were 2 coat hangers for the room which is clearly not enough for 2 people for 4 nights; there were no drawer units to put non hanging clothes and there wasn't even a chair to sit on. Unlike what you normally get in hotels there was no information packs about sightseeing; and given the history of the building there wasn't even any information on that; and when you look on the website for this hotel it says about a shuttle bus but that isn't as advertised. Also everywhere advertising hotel does say its off beaten track but the guests that stayed said thats an understatement and there isn't really anything around this hotel. Would not book this hotel again

We stayed for 5 nights and have to say that I can't really think of any down side. I was a little apprehensive after reading other reviews but we found the room to be lovely and clean (no drawer space for clothes though), the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot. The breakfast was plentiful and they continually kept the food coming. They served cheese, ham and bread along with cereal, yoghurts, pastries and as much tea, coffee and fruit juices as you like. The walk into Rome was 25 minute stroll but luckily once you are on the main stretch you can see the Colosseum directly in front of you. The rooftop terrace was wonderful in the hotel and we sat there with a glass of wine a few evenings watching the sun set before heading out for food. We went to 3 of the local restaurants (on the street directly in front of the hotel - Gerusalemme I think it is) which were all great. Café Italia directly across the road is great for that one last drink before heading for the hotel. They have an outdoor sitting area which was lovely. Basilica Laterano (the view you see from the rooftop terrace) is definitely worth going to see while you are here. A 10 minute stroll through the park and you are there. Would absolutely go back in a flash.

This is a very different type of accommodation but is really nice! It is as described. The rooms are big but basic. The beds were ok, they were not uncomfortable. The breakfast was on the terrace, very pretty and picturesque. The breakfast choice was minimal, mainly crossiants and pastries, bruschetta, ham and cheese, cereal and minimal - apples and bananas but I suppose that will depend on which fruit is in season at the time. The building itself is very beautiful and historical! Very different. It is attached to a Monastry but you wouldn't tell as it is very quiet. Overall, we enjoyed staying at this hotel but wouldn't stay here again, only because of the lack of breakfast, nothing else!

We chose this hotel as a base really for us, while we saw the sights of Rome. Its only a 25min walk from the colloseum, which Is pleasant enough. Except in July, be aware that it is EXTREMELY HOT, and this walk takes it out of you! the rooms are clean and comfy, with everything you need. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired though, with the only options been bread, ham and cheese! Not enough for a day of sight seeing. Roof top terrace is nice, although there is no hotel bar (or at least there wasn't one open when we were there) we were looking forward to ending our days up on the roof with a drink, but that didn't happen. there are a few decent restaurants within 5 mins walk of the hotel. The staff are all pleasant and helpful. we had no problems at all. If you're just wanting a place as a base, then I would recommend this. If you're wanting something a bit more special or a bit better location, I would choose somewhere else.
