If you’re into pounding the pavements, you can’t come to Marathon and not head out for a run – it’s the birthplace of the iconic marathon race after all! If you fancy experiencing the official event for yourself, head here in November and run the route all the way to the capital. Be warned though, as it’s said to be one of the toughest marathon routes in the world!

It’s one of the region’s hidden gems and can’t be beaten when it comes to stunning surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s backed by a 3.5km-stretch of pine forest so there’s always some shade available. Just perfect.
