Chania Town

Chania Town holidays

Split into two parts, Chania shows off an old town and a new, modern city. Rows of pink and burnt-orange houses line the shore, where there’s also a pretty, soft-sand beach. Laze in the sun, marvel at medieval buildings, and explore the elegant, ornate elements of this traditional Greek resort.

A place of dreams

The Venetians built the sea wall, so they can take credit for the gorgeous harbour. Wander leisurely around to find the lighthouse, the domed minarets of the fascinating Turkish mosque, and clusters of museums. It’s fab for foodies too, with brunch spots, chic bars for cocktails and pale ales, and amazing international restaurants.

The best of what’s beyond

There’s plenty to discover in the magnificent surrounding areas. Visit the stalagmites of Bear Cave, go cycling all the way to the intriguing Venizelos Tombs, and hike to see the monasteries of Samaria Gorge. Castles and forests are also easy to find, so you’re in for nothing short of a visual treat.
