The main attractions
The biggest standout feature is the resplendent Palace of Estoi, with its dark pink exterior and neoclassical design. Make sure you have a wander around the lush gardens while you’re there, too. Meanwhile, the Milreu Roman ruins show off an old agricultural settlement with some intricate mosaics.
About 25 minutes from Faro and a short trip from Ria Formosa Natural Park, you’ll find lots of pretty sights around you. Cycle around the local area, shop in the fruit and veg markets, and check out the main square. As for meals, traditional Portuguese cuisine is a must-try.
