Watch the world go by

A black-sand beach takes centre stage here. Small and oh-so peaceful, linger in the sun and enjoy the warm sea breeze on your face. Take a picnic or pop into one of the seafront cafés for some fresh fish and a cold drink while you soak up the view.

Around town

When you’re looking for a bit of action, take to the waves with windsurfing lessons from the local sailing school, jump on a catamaran or tee off at the 18-hole golf course. There’s bike hire in the village too, so you can get out and explore on two wheels.

Let there be light

As far as lighthouses go, the surprisingly ornate Faro de la Entallada is pretty spectacular. Forget stripes; this unusual building looks more like a Moorish palace and is finished with a white-and-tan mosaic of volcanic rocks. It’s definitely worth the trip up the long and winding hill.
