Like many Greek holiday destinations, Rhodes has been blessed with more than its fair share of golden sands. If you’re looking for sun loungers and restaurant-lined promenades, head to the north-west coast around Rhodes Town or south-eastern Lindos. For something more secluded, strike out and explore some of the island’s many hidden coves in quiet spots around Kalithea.
Rhodes has a long and fascinating history, which you can still see traces of today. The island’s most ancient ruins, sitting in Lindos, date back to the 8th century BC, while the fortified section of Rhodes Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, complete with a dazzling medieval castle.
There’s more to Rhodes than first meets the eye. First of all, it’s reliably warm right into the autumn, so it’s a great place to explore once the high summer crowds have gone home. Away from the beach resorts there are forests for hikers, monasteries for culture-lovers and traditional villages for people that just love good old-fashioned Greece.
An all-in-one beachside hotspot within striking distance of medieval Rhodes Town, there’s plenty to see along this northernmost tip of the island.
Just 20 minutes from Lindos – Kiotari has Blue Flag greatness calling your name.
South-east-coast Rhodes is fully in favour of waterfront hangouts – and Pefkos is no exception.
Understandably, the white-hued buildings dotted around this coastal gem have guaranteed Lindos as the prettiest resort of the island.
Faliraki has long been known for its bars and clubs based on two main streets.
A gorgeous Greek town nestled on the edge of sprawling sand and shingle beach, a short drive from Rhodes Town, is waiting to be uncovered.
How does a huge, sandy shore backed by rocky mountains sound? Or maybe even small but smooth golden-sand stretches, all in wildly idyllic settings, and backed by fragrant pine trees? Whether you fancy a family-friendly choice or somewhere just great for watersports, Rhodes has all beachfront bases covered.

Lose yourself in the boutique-lined cobbled streets, walk along the historic walls and explore the imposing fortress that was originally home to the Knights of St John and later became a holiday house for Mussolini. It’s a real portal to the past.

See all activities (14)Rhodes prides itself on its top-quality local produce, from plump red tomatoes to succulent lamb dishes and fish fresh from the Med. The best way to try a bit of everything is to order a selection of meze – Greek-style tapas. Ouzo’s the local tipple and you’ll find it flowing in the tavernas.

Faliraki, Rhodes
Faliraki is the place to party hard. Picture all-night club crawls before watching the sun rise over the beach. Rhodes Town is calmer but still has its fair share of after-dark fun, with cocktail bars and clubs playing everything from jazz to dance music. It really keeps everyone happy.
