Where to go on holiday in September

Bodrum Area

The beaches in Bodrum don’t get much better, so put a terrific Turkish stay high on your September holiday agenda. From classic kebabs to ancient relics, you’ll have bags to explore here. And past the pretty promenades and swish marinas, you’ll have biscuit-hued sands and resorts like Gumbet and Altinkum to check out.

Dubrovnik Area

This terracotta-topped region twinkles in the sunlight. Head straight into central Dubrovnik for old city walls, fascinating museums and chic dining digs. Banje Beach is just around the corner too. Gaze out across the Adriatic in stunning Cavtat or hop across to the islands of Korčula or Šipan for those photo-worthy September holiday snaps.

Halkidiki

The honey colours of Halkidiki will enchant you, no matter which beach you’re lazing on. Enjoy feeling the soft sand between your toes before sitting down to an al fresco Greek feast in a friendly taverna. Afitos and Sani are two fab resort choices, while Thessaloniki’s a cosmopolitan city with various must-discover districts.

Jersey

On average, Jersey is a few degrees warmer than the UK, so you can make the most of what this melting pot of British and French culture has to offer. Holiday here in September and tick off sailing trips, surfing afternoons, farmer’s markets, Jersey Zoo and the Jersey War Tunnels.

Larnaca Area

The Larnaca Area is another top pick for September, whether you’re whisking away young history hunters or big beach fans. Pay a visit to the Tombs of the Kings before hitting the shops at Kings Avenue Mall. Meze feasts in the sun? That’s what it’s all about come lunchtime by the shore in Limassol.

Tenerife

There’s still a liveliness to Tenerife in September, so prepare for days out at Siam Park and Loro Parque. These family favourites have everything to keep kids and adults grinning. But this isle’s also known for its black-sand beaches, shopping malls, cabaret shows and Irish bars.

Our September holidays

Not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet? Draw it out with a late getaway in September. Holiday deals are in abundance at this time of year, so you can snap up a bargain and get more for your money.

Not to mention the weather is balmy and bright. Enjoy a dose of much-needed sunshine without it being too hot to handle. September’s also fab for getting away from the stresses of daily life. The kids are back at school, leaving resorts quieter – great if you’re after total R&R.

Even if you’re planning a holiday with babies or toddlers in tow, it’s easier when the crowds of July and August have faded. Now, let us help you decide where to go in September.
