Alicante combines cultural and historical attractions with warm golden sunshine – not to mention a striking coastline to match. Impressive galleries and a chic marina give this city a cosmopolitan atmosphere all year round, so you’ve got almost double the desirable boxes to tick off your list.
City by the sea
If you’ve come to Alicante to sunbathe, then you’d better get started. Alongside the city’s yacht-filled marina, you’ll find various beaches to sprawl out on. Smooth, honey-coloured sand leads to the sparkling blue waters tumbling out ahead. You’ll also be close to Explanada de España, a gorgeous palm-lined promenade that traces the waterfront.
Stunning coast
If you’ve got kids in tow, you won’t be short of things to do. The Castle of San Fernando opens its doors to theme park-goers, with its free outdoor games that’ll excite all ages. Outdoorsy types have the beach, the sea, the parks... while history buffs should check out the marvels at MARQ Archaeological Museum. And everyone will love the sky-high delights of Santa Bárbara Castle.
Soak up the nightlife
The nightlife scene is incredibly varied, with plenty of choice for everyone. El Barrio used to be the old city centre and has retained its medieval charm, despite being packed with bars and live music venues. The marina’s perfect for al fresco dining with a side of harbour views.
