Roman Forum

Roman Forum

All over the city, ancient Roman ruins appear in odd places. Nowhere is this more striking than the site of the old forum. It used to be the centre of religious and civic life, and medieval townsfolk used one of the old Roman columns as a shame-post where they chained up wrongdoers. You can still see it today.
