This opulent 1920s building was built by a rich industrialist from the nearby town of Alcoy. The story goes that he returned from a trip looking bedraggled, and the old Hotel Palace wouldn’t let him in. So he created this splendid place next door to put them in the shade. Whether or not that’s true, it’s a grand sight.
