National Monument on Vitkov Hill

National Monument on Vitkov Hill

Back in 1420, the Hussite people of Prague defeated Roman rule at the Battle of Vitkov Hill on the outskirts of the city. Today, a statue of Hussite hero Jan Žižka sits here proudly overlooking Prague on his horse. Make your way uphill to the monumnent and you’ll also find a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier together with an exhibition about the history of the city and a knockout viewing platform.
