There’s an outdoor market held every Wednesday morning just a mile up the road from Quarteira selling cut-price cotton goods, footwear and pottery. It's a great place to pick up trinkets. Lots of tours visit the market, but it’s usually cheaper to get the bus towards Faro - it’s only a few minutes' ride.
