Turtle Island

Turtle Island

Stand on Pefkohori beach and you’ll be able to see Turtle Island standing in the azure water. It is so called because its shape resembles the creature. The island’s proper name is Kelyfos, meaning ‘shield’ in Greek, as it was used as a hiding point in ancient Greece and during World War Two.
