Porto is a real foodie haven, and whether you want fresh street food from a market vendor or Michelin-starred morsels, there’s something to tickle all taste buds. A local treat that’s not to be missed is a francesinha! It’s an open sandwich stuffed with roasted meats and cheese, then topped with a fried egg. Wash it down with a glass of local port, of course.
Love to try the local tipple? You’re in a prime spot. The Alto Douro Wine Region is right on your doorstep, where traditional growers have been producing quality drops for nearly 2,000 years. This stunning landscape with rolling green hills produces world-famous port wine. Why not explore the vineyards on a tour and wine tasting to learn all about it from an expert?
Right on the Douro River, this is one of Porto’s most picturesque, authentic, and photographed neighbourhoods. You’ll probably recognise the colourful waterfront buildings from postcards of the city. The narrow, cobblestone streets are dotted with hip hangouts, wine bars and Portuguese restaurants serving up all the local dishes. Grilled sardines top most menus!

For a good overview of Porto's main attractions, culture, and cuisine, we recommend a minimum of three full days. This allows enough time for sightseeing, a Port wine cellar tour, and soaking up the atmosphere without feeling rushed. If you wish to include a day trip, consider four to five days.
Don't miss the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, a stroll through the colourful Ribeira district, a visit to Livraria Lello (the beautiful bookstore), the Clérigos Tower, and the majestic Porto Cathedral. A boat trip along the Douro River also offers stunning views of the city.
Yes, the city centre and main tourist areas are very compact and walkable. However, be prepared for steep hills and cobbled streets – comfortable shoes are an absolute must! The city also has an efficient Metro system, trams, and buses for longer journeys.
The historic port wine cellars are located in Vila Nova de Gaia, directly across the Douro River from Porto's Ribeira district. You can easily walk across the Dom Luís I Bridge. Most major houses offer guided tours that explain the winemaking process, followed by a tasting. It's best to book your tour in advance online, especially during peak season.
We don’t have any villas in this resort right now. But we’ve hundreds available in other destinations, so find your perfect one now.
