Built in the early 1500s in an (unsuccessful) attempt to keep out the Turks, Rakitnica Fortress lies between Vodice and the village of Gaćeleze. It’s a ruin, but closer inspection reveals a complex development of surviving walls, houses and military outlets, so it’s worth taking the trek to have a look.
