Biblioteca Piccolomini

Biblioteca Piccolomini

The Biblioteca Piccolomini was built in 1492 by Pope Pius III to house the books of his uncle Enea Silvio Piccolomini, Pope Pius II. Today you can still see a collection of the books. Look out for the colourful narrative frescoes, painted by Bernardino Pinturicchio, depicting the life of Piccolomini, and admire the third-century group of Roman statues in the centre of the hall.
