Cycling in Croatia

Whether you hit the mountains or the coast, the old towns or rich island countryside, explore Croatia’s varied landscapes on two wheels. It’s all dramatic around Split, while Pula’s more geared
towards beachfront biking. Historic Dubrovnik has bags for cyclists, too.

Heavenly hillsides

The hillsides of Hvar don’t disappoint. Rocky paths and dense forests make up these parts, and you might even catch glimpses of the sea below, depending on track steepness. Meanwhile, some of the Plitvice Lakes are mapped out for cyclists.

Coastal areas

Around Split and the Dalmatian Coast, adrenaline-pumping routes will reward you with seafront scenery. Over in Istria, along the coastal paths, you’ll find around 1,000km of it marked for the benefit of cyclists, so there’ll be plenty of pedalling places.

Great events

Mark the Tour of Croatia on your calendar. It’s popular with pros, and generally held every April, with six stages spread across six days. But if you’re on the hunt for a one-day event, choose the GP Laguna Poreč.
