Basilica di San Lorenzo

Beneath this calm and beautiful church is a crypt where the artist Donatello was buried, plus some original sketches by Leonardo da Vinci. This was once the city's main cathedral, and is the resting place of the entire Medici family. Built in 393, it's a contender for the title of 'oldest church in Florence'.
