Dragon's Lair

Dragon's Lair

As you climb the stairs to Wawel Cathedral, you may notice prehistoric animal bones hanging on a chain on your left. Legend has it that the rugged chambers beneath Wawel Hill were once home to a dragon who liked to gorge himself on sheep and local maidens. You can visit his lair within the castle walls.
