Golfing in Gran Canaria

Spanning from the sun-soaked shores of the south, to the arid, desert-like plains inland and the lush forestry northwards, Gran Canaria offers a gorgeous selection of distinctly different resorts. The continual ‘spring-like’ climate of Gran Canaria is a real draw for keen golfers too.

Golf all year round

Even in mid-winter, whilst Europe falls under a blanket of grey skies, Gran Canaria shimmers in bright sunlight and pleasant temperatures. It’s all the better for the golfing season, with a fantastic selection of courses in the south.

Great sights

Away from the greens, Gran Canaria continues to amaze at the golden beaches and glittering nightlife of Playa Del Ingles and Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, its northern coastline boasts the cultured capital Las Palmas.

Top resorts

Playa Del Ingles is packed with great beaches and commercial centres, while you’ll also be close to the 36-hole Salobre Golf Resort. Neighbouring Maspalomas has stunning sand dunes to explore, as well as Maspalomas Golf and Lopesan Meloneras Golf Resort.

Salobre Gran Canaria New Course

Par: 70

Length: 5014m

Designer: Ron Kirby

Course Type: Links/Heathland

Tee to Green: A relatively new course, constructed in 2008, the New Course at Salobre is shorter than the Old. It has a technical layout with excellent sea views on most holes.

Signature Hole: The par 4 18th is a fantastic finish to this course. A long drive leaves you with the best chance of finding the fairway, which zigzags towards the green. Be careful of the out of bounds wasteland down the left.

The 19th: Bar. Restaurant. Putting green. Driving range. Pro shop.

Par: 71

Length: 2698m

Designer: Ron Kirby

Course Type: Coastal

Tee to Green: Host of the 2007 Spanish PGA Championship, this seaside oasis of green blends fantastically with the blue of the neighbouring Atlantic.

Signature Hole: The par 3 12th offers spectacular views and a green that is perched about the ocean, over-hitting your approach will see you dropping from the large water hazard that is the Atlantic.

The 19th: Bar. Restaurant. Driving range. Putting green. Pro shop.

Maspalomas Golf

Par: 73

Length: 6047m

SR: 122

19th Hole: Bar. Restaurant. Driving range. Putting green. Pro shop.
