They are located in the Aegean region of Turkey, about an hour south of Izmir.
Ephesus offers a remarkable glimpse into the past, showcasing impressive Roman architecture such as the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, and Hadrian's Temple. Selçuk itself has historical significance, including the Ephesus Museum, the Basilica of St. John, and the Isa Bey Mosque. The region also offers beautiful landscapes and a taste of Turkish culture.
A full day is recommended to explore both Selçuk and Ephesus adequately. You can spend a half-day in Ephesus and the other half exploring Selçuk and its attractions. If you are a serious history buff, you might want two days.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are generally the best times to visit. The weather is pleasant, avoiding the extreme heat of summer and the potential rain of winter.
