Mellieha Air Raid Shelter

Mellieha Air Raid Shelter

Malta was under heavy bombardment throughout World War II. These tunnels were dug by hand to shelter the townsfolk of Mellieha from attack. They’re around 500 metres long and 12 metres deep. A visit down here gives you an eerie sense of what the people went through during the war.
