This little man-made island and church in Kotor Bay is shrouded in myth. Legend has it that sailors from Perast found a picture of the Madonna and child here in 1492, and began the tradition of laying rocks on this spot so a church could be built. Each year on 22nd July locals still observe the custom of throwing rocks.
