Bourtzi Fortress

Overlooking the castle grounds, you’ll find this impressive Venetian fortress which dates back to the 15th-century. The octagonal structure sits on a small fortified island that’s connected to the mainland by a small, arched bridge. It has previously been used as a fort, lighthouse and even a prison!
