Zante's main town is the hub of commercial activity on the island. It was rebuilt in a Venetian style after an earthquake in 1953. Visit the Cultural Centre for the Municipal Library and the town's historical reports, and make sure you go to Solomos Museum in the medieval St Mark's Square to visit the tomb of the poet Dionysios Solomos, who wrote the Greek national anthem.
