Text
Stavros is a small and peaceful plot on Chania’s coast. It’s got an away-from-it-all feel with a couple of restaurants and some basic shops. Its seafront is something of a showstopper, with a beautiful beach and a famous rock that featured in the iconic dancing scene in the film.

Beach duo

You’ll be blessed with two lovely beaches here, one in the east and one in the north west of the village. The main one is a sheltered semicircular lagoon with white sand and turquoise water – perfect for families! The latter is a lot smaller and quieter.

Lera Cave

Why not hike to the famous cave that featured in the film Zorba the Greek? Located in the eastern part of Stavros, it boasts unbeatable views of the sparkling sea below. In ancient times, the cave was used for ceremonies of worship and was first excavated in the early 1950s.
