About Ferragudo
Text
This quaint fishing village still manages to retain plenty of that old-school charm. Admire the idyllic shoreline which is filled with fishing boats and locals collecting their catch of the day, or gaze across the river bank to Portimao Marina. The central square is a great setting to enjoy a drink and its maze of cobbled streets are just waiting to be explored.

Tread the coastal paths
The winding walkways to Carvoeiro feature a quaint lighthouse and several small cove beaches that are pretty much invisible when the tide comes in. Along these tranquil spots you can expect to discover some scenic beachfront taverns. Sip a cocktail and enjoy the views across the turquoise waters.
There are views aplenty
The whitewashed church that sits high on the hillside offers expansive views across the River Arade and beyond. The São João fort is also a prime spot for picture-perfect panoramas as it overlooks the estuary into Praia Grande. From here, you can really appreciate the sea’s sparkling colour and calming waves!
