Ras Mohammed Nature Reserve is a protected marine park situated at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, approximately 40 km south of Sharm El Sheikh. Established in 1983, it spans over 480 square kilometres and is renowned for its vibrant coral reefs, diverse marine life, and crystal-clear Red Sea waters. The reserve encompasses both land and sea, making it one of Egypt’s most important ecological sites.
Yes, all visitors to Ras Mohammed Nature Reserve are required to pay an entrance fee, which acts as a conservation permit. This fee is typically included in organised tour packages from Sharm El Sheikh.
The best time to visit Ras Mohammed Nature Reserve is between March and May or September to November. During these months, air and water temperatures are pleasant, visibility underwater is excellent (often exceeding 30 metres), and marine life is highly active.
A standard day trip from Sharm El Sheikh to Ras Mohammed lasts around 8–10 hours, including travel time. Tours usually depart between 7:00 and 8:00 and return by 16:00 to 18:00.
