Day trip to Monteriggioni

A quick trip to the medieval Tuscan town of Monteriggioni will take you back in time. The circular walled town is actually mentioned in Dante's Divine Comedy. Today, the walls serve only to keep out traffic, so you can wander the wonderfully preserved streets and buildings in peace. For a real treat, check out the medieval festival, which takes place every year in early July.
