Palazzo Pubblico

Palazzo Pubblico

The Palazzo Pubblico is one of the finest examples of Gothic secular architecture. Currently the seat of the town council, it was built to house, quite literally, all nine of the city’s governing council in the 14th century: when they took office, they were confined permanently inside and only allowed to leave on feast days.
