The Palazzo Tolomei Gothic-style palace was built in the 1200s by the Tolomei family of bankers and merchants. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The tragic story of Pia Tolomei, who was thrown out of the window when her husband wanted to remarry, was immortalised in Dante’s Divine Comedy.
