1. Read at a glance information

Please note, travel requirements are in line with the destination's government guidance, as well as FCDO advice, correct at 23 June 2022, 14.02.

When travelling on public transport in Spain, everyone aged 6 and over must wear a face mask, even if fully vaccinated. And this goes for any transfers included in your holiday too. Please pack some in your hand luggage so that you’re ready to wear one when required.

Destination entry requirements

Fill out overseas passenger locator form before you travel

If you’re aged 12 and over and using a proof of a negative test for entry you must complete an online overseas passenger locator form no more than 48 hours prior to arriving into Spain.

The overseas passenger locator form (PLF) is an official form which is free to complete and submit. Some companies may offer to charge you a fee for filling this (or similar forms) out on your behalf. Just so you know, they’re not affiliated with us in any way and you should be careful when giving out your personal details.

If you have a NHS Covid Pass detailing either full vaccination, booster or a recovery certificate, or approved equivalent, or are under the age of 12, do not need to fill out a PLF.

Provide proof of full vaccination, proof of a negative COVID-19 test or proof of recovery from COVID-19

If you’re aged 12 or over, and fully vaccinated, you must provide:

Proof of full vaccination: To be fully vaccinated, you must have received both doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a one-dose vaccine, at least 14 days before your arrival. You must have had your final dose of the vaccine within 270 days of arriving into the Balearics. If you’ve received this more than 270 days prior to travel to the Balearics, you must be able to show proof of having received a booster jab. However, final dose of the vaccine has no expiry date for children aged 12-17, so they won't need to show proof of booster. Please note, you don’t have to wait any minimum time after receiving your booster to travel and there’s currently no expiry date for booster jabs.

If you’re aged 12 or over, and not fully vaccinated, you must provide proof of either a:

  • Negative COVID-19 PCR taken, at most, 72 hours before your scheduled arrival time
  • Negative COVID-19 rapid antigen (RAT) test taken, at most, 24 hours before your scheduled departure time
  • Digital certificate of recovery from COVID-19 dated between 11 to 180 days after testing positive

Please note, the UK Government has advised that  you can’t use the free NHS tests for international travel as the result certificates don’t contain all the required information.

This excludes children aged 11 or under

How to get proof of your vaccination status

An NHS COVID Pass shows your COVID-19 vaccination details (including if you’ve had a booster) and will be accepted for travel. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, the process is different. Find out more about how to get proof of your vaccination status.

Please note, your business card-sized paper COVID-19 vaccination record card isn’t an acceptable form of vaccine status proof and can’t be used to enter. COVID-19 recovery documents aren’t acceptable either, and you won’t be able to board if you try to use one instead of proof of full vaccination. Read more government information

Holiday requirements

Check your passport's validity

As the UK is no longer part of the European Union, EU countries now require UK passports to be less than ten years old and still be valid for at least three months at the time you're due to leave their country. To check your passport is valid for travel, ask the two questions for each person on your booking (including children) – if the answer is yes, you’re ready to go!

1. On the day you arrive into the EU, will your passport’s “Date of issue” be less than 10 years old?

2. On the day you leave the EU, will your passport have at least three months remaining (based on the “Date of expiry”)?

If you’re travelling to Turkey
If you’re travelling to non-EU destinations like Turkey, the rules may be different, so please check here for further information.

Read our Face Mask Policy

Your safety is our priority, so we’ve created our Face Mask Policy so everyone knows exactly what’s expected while travelling with us. Please read it carefully before you travel, as different rules apply to the UK and overseas.

Take out travel insurance

When you book a holiday with us, it's part of your terms and conditions that you take out adequate travel insurance. This should cover from the date of booking, in case you have to cancel your plans, until you get home, for any emergencies while you're away.

We recommend the policy you choose includes cover for any pre-existing medical conditions as the UK is no longer part of the EU. Your EHIC will still be valid until it expires but if you apply for an EHIC now you'll get a GHIC, a new UK equivalent, instead.

If you'd like to add our Defaqto 5* travel insurance you your booking, which includes COVID-19 and FCDO cover, log into Manage My Booking and purchase a policy.
