About a 15-minute walk from the old harbour, Nea Chora Beach is a pretty mix of rocks and sand, taking up about a kilometre of Chania’s shore. There’s space for lounging around, if you’re not feeling too energetic. It’s backed by fresh fish restaurants, and hosts the Sardine Festival in summer.
